Meet the Artist

Kian Dubay

I have always known that art would be the space where I could make the greatest impact.

As a young adult, I became deeply involved in coalition building and community organizing for causes close to my heart. During two terms with AmeriCorps Public Allies, I learned the principles of asset based community development and how to intentionally pair my creative skills with meaningful community impact. That experience continues to guide my work as a mural artist today.

I am a Pittsburgh based mural artist specializing in custom murals, hand painted signs, and accent walls for commercial, public, educational, and hospitality spaces. My work includes projects for schools, museums, hotels, foundations, municipal buildings, movie sets, restaurants, salons, and small businesses, as well as collaborative murals completed alongside other artists and designers. I regularly work with architects, design firms, construction teams, educators, and community organizations to create site specific artwork that strengthens identity and enhances the built environment.

A significant portion of my practice is dedicated to school mural projects and arts integrated education. I design and lead mural initiatives that pair tailored curriculum with hands on art making, allowing students to learn through creativity, collaboration, and place based exploration. Past projects include sustainability focused murals developed with elementary students, where more than one hundred children contributed to a collaborative coral reef mural while learning about environmental responsibility through a custom digital art curriculum. I have also led outdoor learning projects with fifth grade students in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park, guiding them through observation and ecological discovery before creating murals depicting plants, fungi, and wildlife native to southwestern Pennsylvania.

Whether working in a classroom, a public space, or a commercial setting, each project is approached with care, collaboration, and intention. While the subject matter may vary, from educational murals and community art to branded interior accent walls, every piece is rooted in the belief that art can foster connection, learning, and lasting impact one brushstroke at a time.

Let’s Collaborate!

I believe that art is a powerful catalyst for social change….and social change doesn’t happen without collaboration. I love working alongside other artists, educators, and community members.
